Why Kim Kardashian Is Dressing ‘Less Sexy’ Because of Kanye and the White House

Kardashian was also asked about her sex tape and brought up Rob’s revenge porn controversy.

Kim Kardashian took a look back at her last decade in the spotlight for New York Magazine and the conversation definitely touched on a few very interesting topics.

Throughout the discussion, Kardashian reflected on her evolving style — explaining why she’s not showing as much skin on the red carpet or Instagram — as well as her sex tape and Caitlyn Jenner’s transition.

According to Kim, both Kanye West and her recent trips to the White House have had an affect on her Instagram feed, as well as her somewhat more conservative (for her, at least) outfits.

“I think I have a little bit,” she said when asked if she’s dressing “less sexy” these days. “I don’t know if it’s the fact that my husband has voiced that sometimes too sexy is just overkill and he’s not comfortable with that. I listen to him and understand him. Still, at the end of the day, he always gives me the freedom to be and do what I want.”

“But I have kind of had this awakening myself. I realized I could not even scroll through Instagram in front of my kids without full nudity coming up on my feed pretty much all the time. And I definitely contributed to that,” she added. She also said she found herself thinking about her bikini selfies between White House visits, wondering, “I hope they don’t see this. I have to go back there next week.”

Kim also said she’s just trying to enjoy life in the moment more and, while on vacations, just doesn’t “care as much anymore to want to take tons of photos in a thong bikini.”

Kardashian was also asked to reflect on her “so-called leaked sex tape” with then-boyfriend Ray J, which was released via Vivid Entertainment. The reporter noted that leaking intimate photos and videos now would be considered “revenge porn.” Since her brother, Rob Kardashian, was at one point caught up in a revenge porn scandal by sharing Blac Chyna’s nude photos, Kim chose her words very carefully.

“Wow! I never even thought about that. I guess that question is a bit tricky. Not even for my situation, but because my brother did post photos of his baby mama and he’s in a revenge-porn lawsuit,” she answered. “Obviously, I get the difference. And I would talk about me. But I don’t know the right thing to say without making him feel like the biggest piece of shit.”

Sidestepping that question, she then talked a bit about her complicated thoughts on the #MeToo movement. While she didn’t speak to anyone who had been assaulted, she expressed confusion over workplace relationships.

“But even just finding love in the workplace … That used to be the only way, you know,” she said. “So many of my parents’ friends married their secretaries, and were together for 40 years, and have children together. And now it’s like, ‘Oh, how could you?’ The head of McDonald’s getting fired for having a consensual relationship with a co-worker. That kind of threw me off a little bit, just thinking how times have changed.”

One other moment from the last 10 years that really stands out for her is Caitlyn Jenner coming out as a transgender woman. The Kardashian family reacted with a range of emotions, leading to some of the reality show’s most genuine reactions to date.

“We received so many letters and messages from people who have been through something similar. That was really a moment for me where I felt like, Wow, I’m so proud of our show,” said Kim. “We showed so much of that and our feelings and what we were going through, whether some of us were upset or confused or whatever. We really showed all of it because that’s naturally what you go through.”

She added that she was “so nervous” for Caitlyn at the time because she “thought people were going to be nasty to her.”
