The White House came to the defense of Vice President Kamala Harris and her work in the administration on Monday amid reports of mutual frustration between the inner circles of the president and his second in command.
Harris, who is the first woman and person of color to serve as vice president, has been given a more elevated and visible role than many of her predecessors. She’s tasked as the point person on prominent – and complex – issues like the root causes of migration from Central America and voting rights. During the past 10 months in office, she often appears alongside Biden during major speeches, releases her own statements and embarks on solo foreign trips.
